Slowly, but surely, the film industry is starting to see box office increases as more people get vaccinated against COVID-19 and pandemic-related restrictions are lifted across the country. This is great news for movie theaters, some of which have struggled over the past 14-15 months due to a lack of films released in theaters and the number of people comfortable enough to go and watch them. A positive sign these days of returning to the cinema to watch movies on the big screen as planned is the announcement from Showplace Cinemas that they are bringing back their family film festival for the summer of 2021.
The Evansville-based movie theater chain announced this weekend the their Facebook page The film festival will start on Wednesday June 9 and run every Wednesday and Thursday for eight weeks, which if my calculations are correct will take the festival to about a week before the start of the new school year.
The films will be shown at sites east and north of Evansville, as well as in Connorsville, Indiana, and Harrisburgh, Illinois.
Each movie starts at 9:30 a.m. and admission is $ 1.50 per person. A âFamily Film Festival Kids Trayâ featuring a 12 ounce drink and popcorn will be available during each show for $ 3.00 each.
Here is what they plan to show with where you can see it.
