A week of family activities across Quebec

A family celebration takes place from May 9 to 15, 2022 with events and activities planned across the province. Under the theme Step up for familiesthis year’s edition of Quebec family week aims to raise awareness of the issues that many families face, especially after the strain of the past two years. These include balancing home and work, financial burdens, supporting caregivers, and building family support systems. As restrictions ease across the province and normality slowly returns, the Network wants to see all aspects of society stepping up to support families and help them thrive.

The annual event of the Réseau pour un Québec famille brings together community, school, municipal, health and social services organizations and acts as a promotion and enhancement of the family while highlighting the various challenges it faces.

A week of activities

From NDG to Gaspé, there is something for everyone. A few of the activities offered during the week include workshops for teens on how to look for a job, tennis lessons for families, hockey open days for girls, yoga for toddlers, family picnics, spaghetti dinners and music. shows.

Support families

An annual event, Quebec Family Week was created in 1995 and held for the first time in 1996. It stems from National Family Week, which has gone through about ten editions. Community and city partners support the event by distributing promotional materials and promoting the initiative in their own networks. Each year, several hundred activities highlighting the importance of the family are organized by various groups across the province.

The date was chosen to coincide with United Nations resolution 47/237, which proclaimed May 15 each year as the International Day of Families, a day for nations to recognize the problems facing families and to improve the ability of nations to adopt policies to deal with it.
