Campfire, festival, movies: Livingston family activities all week long


LIVINGSTON, NJ — Livingston Youth Appreciation Week kicked off Monday and includes events for adults, children and even dogs throughout the weekend.

The events will culminate with a family festival this Saturday and camping and bonfire from Saturday evening to Sunday morning.

The library is also planning special activities for children, including an activity to build an AI dinosaur.

Among the events scheduled from Tuesday to Friday:

  • WEDNESDAY: LACD Talent Show for Children and Adults with Special Needs, Wednesday, September 14, 6-8 p.m., Livingston Senior/Community Center, 204 Hillside Ave.
  • WEDNESDAY: Healthy Living and Stuff the Bus Food Collection, September 14, 204 Hillside Ave.
  • THURSDAY: Build an AI Dinosaur at the Library: Thursday, September 15. To learn more, click here.
  • THURSDAY: Building Blocks Workshop – Lego Building for Families, Sept. 15, 6-8 p.m., 204 Hillside Ave. Senior Center, for ages 4 and up.
  • FRIDAY: Parent Night (K-7) – Friday, September 16, 6-9 p.m., 204 Hillside Ave. Parents can drop off children from kindergarten through 7th grade. There will be a supervised mini-camp with pizza, a movie and a snack. Pre-register online through Community Pass or in person at the SYLS office, 204 Hillside Ave.

Family party

This Saturday will be the Family Festival, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Memorial Oval, Robert Harp Drive. (See the flyer here.)

Activities will include: Robotics Club Demonstration, Adopt a Pet Tent, Petting Zoo, Pony Rides, Craft Tent, Face Painting, Police ID Station, and more.

The Cubs will help with tent setup, children’s games, a 6:30 p.m. dinner break, a 7:30 p.m. campfire, and a movie under the stars.
