Kick-off on September 10, the CasaBlanca Rib Fest will feature some of the best barbecue vendors in the country making delicious ribs and barbecue in addition to fun tailgating games, daily catering contests and a DJ to keep the energy high until Sunday. .

Fresh off a record-breaking Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest in New York, chow-down champion Joey “Jaws” Chestnut will judge, eat and sign September 11 according to the following schedule (all hours are on time Pacific advance):

12 p.m. to 2 p.m. At the CasaBlanca Event Center, Chestnut will judge two watermelon tasting competitions:

Noon – Mesquite School Principals Contest – Mesquite principals will compete against each other and the winning school will receive a $ 500 donation from Mesquite Gaming to their school.

2:00 p.m. – Mesquite Police Department vs Mesquite Fire Department – The two departments will compete against each other. The winning department will receive a donation of $ 1,000 to the charity of their choice on behalf of Mesquite Gaming.

2-3 hours Chestnut will be signing autographs at the CasaBlanca Event Center. Free for the public.

7:00 p.m. At CasaBlanca Showroom, Chestnut will take on some VIPs in a grill contest. The public is free to attend.

Christian Adderson, deputy general manager of Mesquite Gaming, said their three barbecue competition teams have each been perfecting their recipes for decades and have won countless prestigious awards.

“Having the world’s # 1 eater, Joey Chestnut, on hand will add a new level of excitement to the fun festivities our visitors have come to expect,” Adderson said.

Notable food vendors include Austin’s Texas Lightning, bringing over 30 years of experience serving award-winning barbecues; Chicago BBQ Company, first place at Best in the West Rib Festival in 2017; and Texas Outlaw BBQ, with over 250 first place awards in 25 years. This year, participants will be able to choose the barbecue they like the most and vote for the People’s Choice Award. Participants can vote once per day in line, and the team with the most votes on Sunday night will win $ 2,000.

Friday September 10
