Spotify is bolstering its audio lineup for kids and families, including a new storytelling show as part of an exclusive multi-year deal with CoComelon, YouTube’s children’s content powerhouse.
The new “CoComelon Story Time” podcast – CoComelon’s first original spoken-word lineup – will premiere January 24 exclusively on Spotify. The show will include 42 beloved storybook classics, available worldwide in four languages: English (US and UK vocabulary), Spanish, German and Brazilian Portuguese.
“CoComelon Story Time” will be available only to customers with the Spotify Premium Family plan ($15.99/month), along with three new Spotify-produced children’s Originals: “Gardenkeeper Gus”, “100 Cinderellas” and “Deep Blue Sea”. The new audio content for children will be available in the main Spotify app of the Family and Kids Hub, as well as on the Spotify Kids app, exclusively for Spotify Premium Family subscribers.
This is the first major content deal for CoComelon since its parent company, Moonbug Entertainment, was acquired last fall in a $3 billion deal by Candle Media, the media company led by former Disney executives Tom Staggs and Kevin Mayer and backed by private equity group Black Stone.
For Spotify, the CoComelon deal is designed to incentivize parents to sign up for the Premium Family tier, which allows for up to six separate accounts. Since launching its standalone kids app two years ago, Spotify has been pushing age-targeted audio content for parents and their children. Now, the audio platform is stepping up its investment in exclusive content specially created for children and families.
“Gardenkeeper Gus,” launching Jan. 31, is aimed at families with preschoolers. It follows the “delicately told” adventures of 6-year-old Gus and his squirrel best friend, Rel, as they explore and understand the endless, larger-than-life garden behind his family home. “100 Cinderellas,” launching Feb. 14, is an anthology series of Cinderella stories from around the world. “Deep Blue Sea,” which premiered on February 28, consists of episodes where listeners will visit an underwater ocean lab, Sea Lab Alpha, which offers an impeccable view of marine life.

Prior to its acquisition by Candle Media, Moonbug purchased the company behind CoComelon in 2020. Moonbug’s children’s portfolio also includes Little Baby Bum, Blippi, My Magic Pet Morphle, Supa Strikas, Go Buster, Playtime With Twinkle, Gecko’s Garage, and ARPO .
