CASTLETON, ON (October 5, 2022) – The provincial motorsport spotlight will be on Canada’s toughest 1/3 mile loop as the Peterborough Speedway hosts the 29th annual Lucas Oil Autumn Colors Classic . It will be a busy weekend for Cousineau Racing, with the team due to bring four cars to the track.
Based in Castleton, Ont., Bobby Cousineau earned his first career win at Late Model on Saturday August 6th. This trip to the winner’s circle paved the way for a third-place finish in the overall points standings for the #42 Mustang driver. This year, he will also play the primary role of car owner for his sons Chase, Carson and Cole who finished sixth, seventh and eighth respectively in the Junior Late Model category. The Popular Division will debut on this year’s edition of Fall Colors.
“Some might think bringing four cars onto the track is a lot, but it’s actually one less than most regular season nights,” said Bobby Cousineau. “My dad will leave the #24 car at home and give me a hand to keep the boys focused and ready to roll. This weekend can be very busy and I’m sure they will be excited.
About the excitement, Cousineau says he is looking forward to his next start in the big race. These will be the three kicks to the can in the big race. His best finish came in 2021 when he started 12th and finished ninth. Although much of his motorsport experience has passed through the demolition derby ranks, Bobby Cousineau has enjoyed the move to production cars and believes the team is better prepared for a race in autumn colors this year than in the past.
“In 2021, I was largely focused on Super Stock while Dad ran Late Model,” Cousineau said. “Autumn Colors was one of the few starts in the car for me. This year has been different with running every week. 167 laps, that’s quite different from what we do on a regular Saturday night, but we’ll do our best to be in the race with the waves of the checkered flag.
