Fall Family Activities To Do This Weekend | Culture

This weekend is Fall Family Weekend at WVU, and there’s plenty to do on and near campus.

Students and their loved ones can receive a cheery Mountaineer welcome, watch basketball season kick off, participate in an outdoor activity with WV Adventure, or grab a variety of great food. They can also explore what Morgantown has to offer, such as the Farmer’s Market and Arts Walk on Saturdays.

From activities at WVU to events downtown, here are recommendations for things to do during the weekend.

friday october 14

Welcome Mountaineer

Visit the WVU Campus Recreation Center from 4-7 p.m. for brunch with students and families. It’s also an opportunity for families to take photos with the climber, meet school administrators, and grab WVU merchandise.

Morgantown Main Street Art Walk

This weekend, students, families and local residents can immerse themselves in Morgantown’s arts culture. Head downtown from 6-9 p.m. for the last arts walk of the 2022 season, hosted by Main Street Morgantown.

Dozens of local artists and groups will be present.

This event will take place at the Mountainlair Ballrooms at 1 p.m.

Sunday October 17

Yoga on the green

For families looking to get moving early in the morning, WVU hosts an 8-9 a.m. yoga session on Sunday at Rec Center Green.

Interested individuals are encouraged to bring their own yoga mat and register through the registration genius.

Brunch with your student

Before hitting the road on Sunday, families can grab brunch with their students at one of WVU’s three large dining halls: Café Evansdale, Hatfields and Summit Café.
