Autumn has finally arrived. The weather is getting colder, football season is on, and big superhero movies are leaving theaters to make way for star-filled dramas that will be vying for year-end awards. In Oklahoma City, there’s a fall outdoor movie program that promises to be fun for the whole family.

The Oklahoma City Department of Parks and Recreation is launching its Fall Family Movie Series, screening movies every Friday night at a different park in town. The film series begins this Friday, September 16 and ends on Friday, October 14. All screenings are free and open to the public.

For each of the films, the evening will start at 6:30 p.m., with different activities for the children until sunset, when the film begins. Families are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs, blankets, food and drink. Free popcorn will be available on a first come, first served basis.

It was also the same year the musical of school of rock launched on Broadway.

On October 7, Spider-Man: No Coming Home will swing in Schilling Park, located at 539 SE 25th Street, between Shields Boulevard and I-35. This version of Spider-Man brought back several characters from previous films, grossing $1.94 billion at the worldwide box office and becoming the sixth biggest movie of all time.

by Disney The princess and the Frog will close the series with a screening at Taylor Park, 1115 SW 70th St. Taylor Park is just north of I-240 between Western and Blackwelder. Located in New Orleans, The princess and the Frog is the first Disney animated film to feature a majority black cast. The film was nominated for an Oscar for Best Animated Feature and Best Song.
