The Saanich Fairgrounds will transform into a grand outdoor theater this weekend as the Saanichton Village Association screens two films for free in partnership with the Saanich Fair and the Peninsula Country Market.
The first, Kung Fu Panda, will be screened on Friday, August 19, starting at dusk around 8:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with members of the Shukokai Kimura Karate Club providing a public demonstration before the feature film.
School of Rock plays on Saturdays, with the same hours in effect.
Concessions will be offered by 4-H Country Kitchen, Noel’s Donuts, La Tor0lla on the Run, Mount St. Michael Raspberry Farm and others, and of course popcorn will be available. The organizers ask spectators to bring blankets or, preferably, lawn chairs to sit on.
The Saanichton Village Association is a voluntary non-profit organization dedicated to the development of residents and businesses in the village area through events, receptions and projects that benefit everyone.
BC Fairs, Festivals and Events Recovery Fund is providing financial assistance for the event.
