New family movies for summer 2022


We are excited about this line of new family movies!

Whether your family loves to feast on a huge pot of popcorn in front of a big screen at the local cineplex or feast on homemade nachos in front of your favorite home streaming service, we have good news for all movie buffs. The approaching fall season means that with the return of cooler weather, there’s a slate of new family movies for parents and kids to enjoy. There are some exciting ones here, so get those movie snacks ready!

Actor Tom Hanks and director Robert Zemeckis, who previously worked together on Forrest Gump, Castawayand The Polar Expressgathered for this charming and heartfelt retelling of the classic 1883 Italian children’s book, The Adventures of Pinocchio. In this Disney+ Original, Hanks plays puppeteer Geppetto while newcomer Benjamin Evan Ainsworth voices the titular puppet who yearns to be a real boy one day. The beautiful and evocative shots in Tuscany, Italy are complemented by dazzling CGI effects.

Hocus Pocus 2

Hocus Pocus 2 is a new family movie for fall 2022.

After the 1993 cult classic, Hocus Pocus 2 reunites Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy as the Sanderson sisters in this highly anticipated Disney+ sequel. Three young women accidentally bring the Sanderson sisters back to present-day Salem and then must find a way to stop the witches from wreaking havoc on the world again.

Monster High: The Movie

This fantasy and musical live-action remake of the popular Monster High fashion dolls and animated series follows the misadventures of young werewolf Clawdeen Wolf who is a newcomer to Monster High. Befriending fellow misfits Frankie Stein and Draculaura, the teen freaks try to fit in with the cool freaks while having to do, like, homework and all.

Lyle, Lyle Crocodile

Based on the classic 1965 children’s book by Bernard Waber, Lyle is a city croc who lives with the Primm family in a Victorian brownstone on New York’s Upper East Side. While the Primms consider Lyle part of the family, others think he belongs in a zoo. This new live-action/animated family film follows Lyle’s quest to show he’s not like other reptiles. Canadian pop star Shawn Mendes voices the title croc.

The Curse of Bridge Hollow


As part of Netflix’s slate of Halloween-themed movies, The Curse of Bridge Hollow (formerly titled Boo!) stars comedian Marlon Wayans and Priah Ferguson as a father and daughter who must join forces to save their small town from an ancient, mischievous spirit who has been accidentally released. Scary and goofy fun for the whole family.

White Bird: A Wonderful Story

White Bird is a new fall family film.

Based on RJ Palacio’s best-selling collection of stories, augie and mewhich develops the characters of Palacio’s beloved novel Wonder, white bird tells the story of a young Jewish girl hidden by a boy and his family in Nazi-occupied France during World War II. This family drama about friendship and salvation will strike a chord with moviegoers.

Super Mario Bros. : the film

The new family movie Super Mario Bros.  comes out this fall.

Nearly 30 years after Disney’s original live-action film adaptation failed at the box office, Nintendo is once again lending its most famous mustachioed brethren to Illumination Studios for an animated film reboot. The script for the film has yet to be announced, but the star cast and seasoned superhero cartoon directors are sure to make it a popular new family movie in 2022.
