A modest San Jose home has sold for nearly $1 million above its original price as real estate prices continue to remain hot in the area. The ranch-style home went on sale for $1.875 million in early December and received an offer after just one day on the market. The house eventually sold for $2.85 million.

The three-bedroom, two-bathroom home measures 1,296 square feet. It features double glazed windows, new vinyl tile flooring and updated lighting. It also has a spacious backyard; the property sits on a large 6,009 square foot lot, which could easily accommodate expansion or reconstruction.

The property remained with one family for an extended period, according to the listing; it was originally purchased in 1972 for $30,500. Sheryl Shigemasa and Elise Erwin of Century21 Real Estate Alliance were the listing agents.
The location of the house has undoubtedly added to its appeal. It is located near Apple Headquarters, Santana Row, Westfield Valley Fair Mall, and many other amenities. In fact, the West San Jose area has a median sale price of $2.025 million, an increase of 19.7% over last year, according to Redfin.
