Tom Brady won’t make it to the Super Bowl this year with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers — and that could bring up a family talking point with his wife Gisele Bündchen: retirement. The athlete has toyed with the idea in the press for the past few seasons, but it’s increasingly becoming a reality as the pair begin to think about their future goals together.
The model has a strong voice in this decision with a Hollywood life source calling him, “a major element on whether he continues to play in the NFL or not.” With “this year looking like the most important conversation yet”, Brady will certainly have to decide whether he has another season in him or not – and there are many factors to consider. “The kids are growing up and they both want to decide how they really want to spend the next fifty years of their lives,” the insider added. “And they’re going to have a lot of conversations after the season that are going to be very heartfelt.”
The NFL star also praised his wife for taking on much of the burden of raising their children, Benjamin, 12, and Vivian, 9, as well as Brady’s son Jack, 14, from his relationship with Bridget Moynahan. “I think my wife has, you know, held the house for a long time now,” he said on his SiriusXM podcast. Let’s go! With Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald and Jim Graylast fall. “And I think there are things that she wants to accomplish. You know, she hasn’t worked that much in the last 10, 12 years, just to raise our family and kind of commit to living in Boston, then moved to Florida.
Brady still has a year left on his contract and it’s hard to imagine he wouldn’t want to have a season to say goodbye, but the end of an era could soon be upon us. “To M can pretty much write his own story and play as long as he wants and if it were up to Tampa, they don’t want him to retire,” the source said. The team might want him forever, but Bündchen is probably ready to have her husband all year round.
